Full Monty

Owners were seeking to contrast their summer residence nestled in a lush forest with a winter time desert oasis. What they purchased was a decent house boasting a great location with good bones complete with mountain views and a pool. In their own words, they weren’t looking for someone who was an order taker, rather a designer who could listen, create and execute. I drafted a dream plan, complete with dream materials and a dynamite contractor to manage the project; they approved it and we got to work.

Starting with the great room, the kitchen was transformed with a single multi-functional island. The living room received a facelift, removing walls and arches and adding a monolithic tile wall featuring a floating hearth, a linear fireplace and a recessed television and all new windows and doors. The master suite packed the most changes per square foot, straightening every angled wall possible to make the minimalist conversion. The guest bath, powder bath, laundry, dining room, bedrooms and office received similar treatments to make the entire space cohesive. A very simple floor tile and a basic white paint carried throughout the entire house. Five walls were chosen to bring in some depth with a true gray wall paint. A light wood to warm-up the bathrooms, otherwise all materials followed suit with the white/grey/blue-green theme.
